View RecordsLocate Delaware County criminal court files using Pennsylvania or Ohio routes, with separate contacts for dockets, documents and background checks.
A Delaware County search needs a state. Pennsylvania and Ohio maintain distinct criminal-record services; these are examples rather than a complete list of counties with the name. Establish the state from the proceeding, not merely a person’s current address.
Then decide whether you need a docket reference, the document resolving a charge, or a broader background report. That choice changes the request destination.
Use the Delaware County criminal docket route through the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System Case Search. Select the appropriate court and Delaware County when searching, then use the available docket-number or participant-search options to locate the case. A free public docket search helps locate a case, but it is not every underlying court record or document.
The Office of Judicial Support’s Criminal Division handles Common Pleas criminal files and files processed from local District Justices. For file requests, contact [email protected] at Room 127, Government Center, 201 West Front Street, Media, PA. The current criminal-dockets contact number is 610-891-4370. District Court and Magisterial District Judge matters remain with the respective District Judge office.
Use the docket to identify the case and relevant entry, then request the existing filing, judgment, dismissal, disposition or other document needed. Filing a new court paper is different from retrieving an existing record.
For ordinary or certified copies, identify the requested format, certification need and delivery method, then confirm the current Criminal Fees attachment and total charge with the file room when the current quote is not clear. Do not use historical fee labels as a current calculation.
If the goal is a Pennsylvania criminal history background check rather than Delaware County court files, use the Pennsylvania State Police criminal history background-check service. The online PATCH route is available through https://epatch.pa.gov/ and ordinary mail requests may use SP4-164 when applicable. The service is Pennsylvania law-enforcement history only, not a federal history. The ordinary request fee is $22, with optional notarization of $5 when offered by the service.
Delaware County, Ohio records depend on the office holding the file. Use the Clerk of Courts Records Search route for felony and Common Pleas files; e-filing a new document is a different task from retrieving an existing record.
The Legal Division can assist with requests at [email protected], 740-833-2500, Legal Division, 117 North Union Street, Level 300, Delaware, OH 43015. Provide the cause number when available, identify the judgment, dismissal, filing or document needed, and confirm certification, format, delivery and total cost with the holding office.
The current Legal Division schedule lists copies at $0.10 per page and Certified Copies at $1.00. Because certified-copy unit descriptions differ across older policy materials, confirm the applicable certified charge rather than applying a universal formula. Legal Division accepts cash, check and credit/debit cards; card processing charges may apply.
For Municipal Court misdemeanor or traffic records, use the named Municipal Court Case Lookup and clerk route rather than Common Pleas by default. The Criminal/Traffic contact is 740-203-1570, with the court location at 70 North Union Street, Delaware, OH 43015. Public electronic docket access remains subject to court availability and restrictions. For records not available through the online route, request paper-file inspection through the clerk under the court’s rules. Confirm Municipal Court copy rules separately.
Compare identifiers and dates before attributing a same-name case to someone. If the outcome is unclear, obtain the relevant disposition; a docket or case presence alone is not a conviction.
Searching one county or one court does not establish a complete personal history. A missing public result is not criminal-history clearance because records may be limited, unavailable, restricted or held through another custodian.
